Volunteering

Volunteering is an excellent way to give back to the community and to help those who need it the most.
It is a great way to make new connections, develop new skills and make a positive impact in your community and the lives of others.

Temiskaming Hospital is very grateful to our dedicated Volunteers who give their personal time to enhance the quality of our patient’s stay.  Our patients benefit in many ways from these interactions whether it be on a physical, cognitive, emotional and/or spiritual basis.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Friendly Visiting

Our friendly visiting program consists of volunteers who come to the Hospital to visit and engage with patients who would benefit from a “friendly visit”.  While visiting, volunteers participate in activities with the patient that may include reading a book, playing games or just sharing a story.

We provide the volunteer with an activity cart loaded with games, books, and crafts to provide the resources for a meaningful visit!

Activity Room

Our activity room volunteers assist the Hospital’s reactivation workers to carry out various activities.
Volunteers in the activity room are offered a more structured schedule to provide assistance as required.
