Student Placements

Student Placements

As a community partner, Temiskaming Hospital is committed to providing quality education experiences for students in clinical and non-clinical settings.

Placements are possible in many disciplines including, but not limited to: Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work and Speech-Language Pathology, Information Technology, Maintenance, and Health Records.

Clinical and Non-Clinical Placements

All clinical and non-clinical placements for students must be coordinated by the academic placement coordinator at the respective University or College. From there, an affiliation agreement will be established with the requesting school and Temiskaming Hospital. Once a placement has been confirmed, the following documentation must be submitted to Temiskaming Hospital prior to commencement:

    • Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Record Check

    • Up-to-date immunization record

    • Proof of BCLS if enrolled in nursing program

    • Up-to-date mask fit testing record

Co-Operative (Co-Op) Placements

Co-op placements are available to students who are enrolled in a co-op program through their high school. All co-op placements are organized between local school administration and Temiskaming Hospital.

Summer Student Opportunities

Temiskaming Hospital will post summer student opportunities as they become available. To be eligible for these opportunities applicants must be enrolled full time in a secondary or post-secondary program.

TH Job Shadowing Experience

Job shadowing is becoming increasingly important not only as a great learning opportunity for students considering a career in healthcare, but also as an effective tool in the recruitment process.

If you are a high school student in grade 11 or 12 and have a keen interest in pursuing a career in health care, the Hospital is offering the opportunity to accompany, interview and observe an experienced, professional health care worker.  Job shadowing experiences will be limited to two, 2-hour sessions.

Inquiries and requests for Job Shadowing should be directed to Human Resources via email at careers@temiskaming-hospital.com.
