    The Temiskaming Hospital is looking for a full-time general surgeon to join our team! The Temiskaming Hospital is a 79 Bed facility located on the shores of Lake Temiskaming, about 1.5 hours north of North Bay.  It’s paradise for the outdoor enthusiast with skiing, skating, tubing, hiking, ice fishing, and snowmobiling in the winter and swimming, boating, hiking, camping, ATVing, and relaxing by the water in the summer.  Though the City is remote, it still offers everything you need including some big box stores, shopping, health and dental care, great schools, recreational activities, and so much more. 

    You would be part of our OR team which includes 3 GP – Anesthetists, an amazing OR team of nurses, GP Surgical assistants readily available to you, and one FP-OSS responsible for c-sections in the region.  Your clinic would be situated in the hospital.  Discounted rent is provided and can include reception staff, internet, cleaning, dictation services, OR booking, utilities, and any other services you wish to request.  There is the possibility of getting surgical equipment that meets your interests or sub-specialty and training for the OR team.   The funding model can be Fee-for-Service or join an Alternative Payment plan for a more blended model.  

    The hospital itself has a CT scanner, a very collegial IM, and a supportive team.  There are 28 physicians in the Temiskaming area, who wear a variety of hats including anesthetists, ED physicians, family physicians, obstetrical providers, gerontologists, cosmetics, internal medicine specialists, hospitalists, and surgeons.  We are a teaching hospital and have medical students and residents regularly.

  • Despite not having designated Mental Health beds we continue to see on a regular bases, frequent, mental health diagnosis.  Your practice would be very busy with both in and out-patients consults. Working in an interdisciplinary team environment you will provide clinical direction and leadership in the assessment and management of mental health clients. You possess solid clinical judgment, a thorough knowledge of psycho pharmacology and experience with severe mental illness.  Axis 11 disorders and substance misuse.  The ability to make ethical decisions, while maintaining your integrity and reliability, and work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to manage conflict and resolve issues will also be of paramount importance.

    Our medical staff consists of 21 family practitioners, 1 internist (we will be recruiting one more), 2 general practitioner anesthetists, (we are recruiting 1 more), 1 geriatric practitioner, (we are recruiting 1 more) 1 visiting pathologist, visiting radiologists, 19 visiting specialists and 3 mid-wives.

    Temiskaming Hospital is a 79-bed large community hospital that cares for the residents of the Temiskaming Shores serving the healthcare needs of approximately 17,000 and district-wide population of 30,000 for the provision of obstetrical and level 1B nursery services, stroke services, laboratory and medical imaging (including CT scan).  TH is staffed by 257 employees, 23 Physicians and 3 Midwives. Our staff includes Regulated Health Professionals providing inpatient and outpatient services including Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and Clinical Nutrition.

    In partnership with Sudbury’s Health Sciences North (HSN), we provide Virtual Critical Care Program, satellite dialysis, chemotherapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation. The hospital works closely with three local Family Health Teams and Health Unit including 9 Nurse Practitioners.

    TH is a teaching centre for students in medicine, nursing and the allied health professions. We are proud to be affiliated with the Northern School of Medicine (NOSM), Nipissing University, Northern College and several other Ontario colleges and universities

    Prospective candidates must have a license to practice Psychiatry in the Province of Ontario as well as FRCPC or eligible FRCPC status. Additionally, experience with Meditech Expanse is required.     - July 4th 1700h to July 6th 0800h

    - August 17th 0800h to September 2nd 0800h

    - September 14th 0800h to September 30th 0800h

    - November 9th 0800h to November 23 0800h

    - December 12th 0800h to January 5th 0800h

     

    Paid through the NSLP, receive mileage, accommodations, and honorarium, plus travel stipend, and HOCC payment. We have a beautiful house right on the lake for you to stay at.

  • The Temiskaming Hospital is looking for an OBGYN to join our Specialist Clinic approximately 2 days per month.   

    Time:

    •         2 days of clinic time (8 hours for full days, possibility of 3-4 hours on travel days

    •         OR time once the clinic is established

     

    Compensation:

    • Travel allowance

      •     $.41/km from your home to the hospital and back

    • Accommodations

      •      Single occupancy to a Maximum of $250/night

    • Travel stipend

      •      $503.62 for every 3-4 hours of travel time

    • Honorarium:

      •      $332.53 per clinic and travel day

    • Meal Allowance

      •      Maximum $40/day

    • Clinic time:

      •      Fee-for-service billings unless the fee-for-service billing is less than $614 for a 3–4-hour session or $1,228 for a 7–8-hour day (we will schedule to maximize fee-for-service billing)

  • Respirologist Needed in Beautiful Temiskaming Shores

    The Temiskaming Hospital is looking for a Respirologist to join our Specialist Clinic approximately 1 day per month.  

    Temiskaming Hospital provides 11 different Specialist Clinics for our community funded by the Underserviced Area Program (UAP) of Ontario. The program is administered by the Primary Health Care Branch, Northern Health Programs and is intended to enhance access to health care services in small, rural and northern areas of the province, which have difficulty attracting and retaining health care professionals. Providing these specialist services close to home means our community members do not have to travel for hours each way to receive equitable and quality care.

    Temiskaming Hospital prides itself on providing high-quality, patient-centered care close to home. Since 2016, Temiskaming Hospital has upgraded over $5M worth of modernized patient equipment through the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation's Care Close to Home campaign. 

    We are presently seeking a locum emergency family medicine physician to cover the following dates:

    Jul.12-14     0700h – 1300h

    Aug. 9-11    1300h – 1900h

    * Qualified candidates must be trained in Meditech Expanse. 

    Temiskaming Hospital is a 79-bed large community hospital that cares for the residents of the Temiskaming Shores serving the healthcare needs of approximately 17,000 and district-wide population of 30,000 for the provision of obstetrical and level 1B nursery services, stroke services, laboratory and medical imaging (including CT scan).

    The medical staff consists of 22 family practitioners, 2 internist, 3 GP anesthetists, 1 visiting pathologist, visiting radiologists and 22 visiting specialists. These specialists conduct regular outpatient clinics and provide consultations in varied disciplines such as pediatrics, neurology, ophthalmology, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, nephrology, urology, orthopedics, orthotics, and physical/rehabilitative medicine. We belong to the Telestroke program with a state of the art diagnostic imaging department that includes a 128-slice CT scanner. We have a full-service Obstetrical team with C-section and epidural service doing over 300 deliveries per year. The team is made up of 5 family doctors (one of whom does C-sections) and 3 midwives.

    In partnership with Sudbury’s Health Sciences North (HSN), we provide Virtual Critical Care Program, satellite dialysis, chemotherapy and cardiac rehabilitation. The hospital works closely with three local Family Health Teams and the Timiskaminig Health Unit including 9 Nurse Practitioners.

    ER Physicians are paid under EDAFA Emergency Department Alternate Funding Agreement at about $162.50 per hour with 10% of shadow billing in business hours and 25% shadow billing after hours and on holidays.
