Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists are regulated health care professionals often known as “movement specialists”. They play a significant role in assessing, analyzing, diagnosing, and treating injuries, diseases, the effects of illness, as well as promoting health and the prevention of disability. At Temiskaming Hospital they also work as part of the health care team in collaboration with patients and patients’ families to set goals and expedite discharge planning.

At Temiskaming Hospital, the Physiotherapist, working with their Physiotherapy Assistant, use their in-depth knowledge of the body and their specialized hands-on clinical skills to help patients increase their mobility, relieve pain, build strength, restore and increase range of motion, improve balance and coordination, as well as maximize cardiorespiratory function.

All physiotherapists employed by Temiskaming Hospital are licensed by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. They provide education to patients and their families as well as their peers within the hospital and our community.
