Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapist has many diverse roles at the Temiskaming Hospital, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Some of these roles include, but are not limited to: conducting a variety of inpatient cognitive and functional assessments; assessing and prescribing a variety of adaptive equipment and assistive devices; and developing, delegating to and overseeing therapeutic treatment plans carried out by Occupational Therapist Assistant. The Occupational Therapist performs various therapeutic interventions. The Occupational Therapist also assesses and treats upper extremity injuries and conditions, specializing in hand therapy, through an outpatient clinic.
Like the Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant has many diverse roles at the Temiskaming Hospital. Some of these roles include, but are not limited to: carrying out therapeutic interventions based on the Occupational Therapist’s delegation of Occupational Therapy treatment plans. Some of the Occupational Therapy treatment plans include: basic activities of daily living and self-care training, mobility training, and use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices training. The Occupational Therapy Assistant also performs the Occupational Therapy department’s clerical duties and responsibilities.
