Temiskaming Hospital is a 79-bed fully accredited community hospital located in Temiskaming Shores, ON.  We are currently accepting resumes for a Clinical Nurse Educator in a temporary full-time capacity.

 

Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Services, the primary roles and responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Educator include:

  • Supports the organization’s strategic plan to advance clinical education priorities and initiatives
  • Collaborates with Leadership regarding learning needs of unit staff, supporting skills assessment, development plans and training including quality related programs and initiatives
  • Integrate College of Nurses or governing body Standards of Practice into educational activities
  • Foster an environment and relationships with front line nurses that encourage continuous learning
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Responsible for the provision of competency based clinical education and professional practice development and touch points
  • Plans, implements and evaluates specific education programs and evidence-based practice to meet identified nursing needs, functioning as a clinical resource regularly
  • Assist nursing management with the development of learning plans for staff with skills deficits, supporting the individual in achieving expected outcomes, and evaluating performance in relation to the Standards of CNO and Temiskaming Hospital
  • Support and / or deliver educational events or opportunities for professional development, continuing education and innovative approaches to ongoing learning e.g. in-services, on site education opportunities, research projects
  • Provides leadership and support for general orientation, specialty orientation and skills development / certification for clinical staff
  • Tracks and benchmarks education within central database to ensure competencies are achieved and maintained
  • Support interdisciplinary training and education opportunities e.g. collaborative simulations
  • Educate nursing staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinate in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff
  • Assists with policy and procedure development and revisions when standards of care change in order to facilitate evidence based practice
  • Supports the acceptance of clinical placement students, liaising with Human Resources
  • Support, resource and education for electronic medical record (EMR) system, Meditech Expanse
  • Informs leadership on staff/ education needs and supports regular facilitated learning opportunities

 


 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse – BScN; Registered and in good standing with the College Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of five years recent, relevant clinical experience required
  • Experience using a variety of learning modalities to facilitate ongoing learning
  • Experience working in Obstetrical and Medical Surgical departments required
  • Experience leading and/or managing quality improvements in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment, building relationships and providing leadership / mentorship
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project, presentation and teaching skills
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
