Clinical Manager (FT - 1.0 FTE)

Temiskaming Hospital, a 59-bed hospital located in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, is seeking a transformative leader to provide managerial oversight of its Emergency, Special Care Unit, Operating Room, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Respiratory Departments.  

 

Reporting to the Vice-President of Clinical Services, you will provide leadership and direction through planning and organizing of the day-to-day operations of our Emergency, Special Care Unit, Operating Room, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Respiratory Departments. You will ensure the quality of care to patients, planning human and material resources, supporting a healthy workplace, advancing quality and patient safety within the department including the leading of improvement/change management initiatives, managing operational budgets, adhering to organizational and professional standards, and corporate policies and procedures.  Focus of the role will include fostering effective working relationships within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization. The successful candidate will also uphold the strategic vision of the hospital mission, vision and values.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team in patient care delivery and patient flow.
  • Create an environment of continuous learning; engaging staff, patient and families in continuous improvement.
  • Foster an environment that is collaborative and inter professional.
  • Coordinate and be accountable for the day-to-day utilization of resources to achieve the departmental goals.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and act as resource for staff.
  • Motivate and managing health human resources (recruitment, retention, performance and training).
  • Develop innovative services including models of care, process and quality improvement, with focus on seamless transitions of care.
  • Facilitate an environment of collaboration and cooperation; Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve services, and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
  • Financial planning and accountability.
  • Ensure that clinical practices are consistent with current best practice standards and regulations and are evidence based; Maintain ongoing staff competency.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all, ensuring incidents are reviewed and debriefed upon, with corrective action as appropriate.
  • Participate in Hospital accreditation process to continually improve upon accredited status.
  • Participate on various committees, representing management areas of accountability, as required.
  • Provide leadership for operational initiatives, goals and objectives aligning with strategic directions in collaboration with the Vice President of Patient Services.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Baccalaureate degree in a regulated health profession required; Nursing background preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in leadership/supervisory role is preferred
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with an applicable regulatory college is required.
  • Demonstrated time management, prioritization, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of labour/management practices.
  • Ability to collaboratively and effectively work with others, appreciating different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with demonstrated competency in information and communication technology.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
  • Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, values.
  • Certification and experience of Operating room or Critical care courses/certification e.g. ORNAC or Critical care certificate considered an asset.
