Finance Manager ( Permanent Full Time)

 

Temiskaming Hospital is a 59-bed fully accredited community hospital located along the beautiful shore of Lake Temiskaming in New Liskeard, ON. Located in northern Ontario, we offer a worklife balance second to none!

We are currently looking for a Finance Manager to join our team of healthcare professionals!

 

As an integral member of the Finance Team, the Finance Manager will be responsible for implementing the overall financial plan and policies along with accounting, tax, insurance, budget, credit and treasury functions. In addition to this role, the is position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the workflow of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and the Hospital’s Registration Department.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

· Develops financial policies, systems, and procedures to provide a complete financial operation service, including financial planning and analysis, general accounting, financial control, forecasting and preparation of operating capital and cash flow budgets

· Ensure compliance with regular and ad hoc legislative reporting requirements

· Develops and implements policies, guidelines, monitoring quality evaluation and control mechanisms to ensure effective collection of revenue, accounts payable, and judicious and legitimate management and expenditure of funds

· Monitors financial results, capital and cash flow on a regular basis

· accountability and authority limits for the organization’s managers, initiating corrective action where warranted

· Presents budgets to CFO for approval, monitors financial results, and capital expenditures on a regular basis; assesses need for mid-course corrections; reports results to CFO for executive review

· Interprets relevant financial, auditing, and tax legislation and regulations, develops processes and controls for their application and provides results to the CFO

· Provides detailed research and analysis of financial and cash flow options, collection, utilization and disbursement of funds; reports on the impact of those options and makes sound recommendations for change where applicable

· Reviews continuously and implements a functional human resource plan for the department by selecting staff, delegating tasks, defining goals, objectives, priorities and performance standards, communicating feedback on performance, and providing opportunities for personal development

· Represents the organization in important external business relationships with clients, suppliers, and government, so that the organization’s image is reflected in the most positive manner and where such contacts are critical to the achievement of objectives

· Is compliant with and ensures compliance with hospital policies, procedures and training requirements for maintaining a healthy and safe workplace

· Participates in the year-end audit process

 

Qualifications:

 

· Must possess a related degree and must hold or actively working towards accounting designation (CPA)

· Three or more years of management experience is required

· General knowledge of accounting, tax legislation, regulations

· Knowledge of or experience in the healthcare industry and healthcare funding is an asset

· Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, financial reporting system ( ie Meditech, Budman and ESM)

· Ability to support staff to embrace change and lead progressive innovations

· Must possess a high degree of integrity and dependability

· Ability to motivate, engage and value the contributions of employees, in keeping with a strong organizational culture of cooperation and respect
