Vice President Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive


The Position:


Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive will play an integral part of the Hospital’s senior leadership team providing managerial and clinical leadership while ensuring the delivery of excellent quality patient centered care. 


Aligning with the Hospitals mission, vision, values and strategic plan, you will provide transformational leadership, while collaborating with key stakeholders in designing and implementing quality initiatives to promote an organizational culture of clinical excellence. 


As the Vice President Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive, you will:


  • Administer and align activities of quality patient centred care services and hospital programs according to expected standards – areas of oversight include:

All clinical/patient care departments, infection control, allied health professionals, discharge planning, activation coordination, visiting specialist clinics, day medicine, telehealth, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, health records, patient safety, pharmacy, and spiritual care.


  • Leads the organization with respect to Accreditation and Quality Improvement initiatives


  • Along with the senior leadership team and the Hospital Board of Directors, develops the Operations Plan in alignment with the strategic direction of the Hospital


  • Research and implement best practices to enhance delivery of clinical services and programs


  • Ensure compliance with associated regulations such as the Public Hospitals Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Broader Public Service Procurement Directives, Excellent Care for All Act and other related acts and regulations Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and Infection Prevention/Control.


  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver excellent health care services by creating and aligning collaborative partnerships with community partners


  • Oversee the coordination and utilization of resources including human and financial resources within departments while promoting a supportive work culture.


The Candidate


The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader with at least 5-7 years of progressive clinical leadership. Sound knowledge of the Health Care System, legislative requirements, standards of care, evidence based practice, professional practice, structure and operations of Hospitals is essential to this role.


Your educational background will include: graduate of an approved nursing program and currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Successful completion of a postgraduate degree in business or health administration at a Master’s level and/or equivalent education and business experience preferred.  Certified Health Executive (CHE) or willing to complete requirements for designation.  Oral proficiency in French at an advanced or superior level is required.
