Through the strategic planning process, we intend to shed light on important issues and uncover the most promising opportunities. We are exploring perceptions about how the organization is doing, opportunities and gaps, and how Temiskaming Hospital can better meet the needs of its stakeholders.

About Temiskaming Hospital
Temiskaming Hospital is a 59-bed acute care hospital providing care to communities from Temagami to approximately Earlton along Highway 11 in Northeastern Ontario. Temiskaming Hospital has responsibilities for Obstetrical and Stoke Protocol services in the Timiskaming District. Equipped with a CT Scan, it boasts one of the best equipped Diagnostic Imaging departments for a hospital of it size. Due to shortages of Long-Term Care beds in south Timiskaming, Temiskaming Hospital carries a high level of Alterative Level of Care Patients, patients who would be better served in other health care settings.
Focused on providing “Care Close To Home”, the hospital engages 13 visiting specialist that provide clinical, and limited surgical services, including cardiology, psychiatry, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, urology, rehabilitation/physical medicine, paediatrics and nephrology. High volume utilization of the Ontario Telehealth Network also ensures more consultations are provided “Close to Home”. In keeping with our “Care Close To Home” philosophy, day medicine and dialysis services are provided through satellite agreements with Health Sciences North. Virtual Critical Care links with Health Sciences North means that critical care specialists can digitally advise our Emergency Department staff on critical life saving techniques when time matters most, resulting in better patient outcomes and a more efficient health system by reducing transfers.
Our surgical program manages a relatively high volume of patients annually. The hospital also provides Non-Urgent Patient Transfer services, ensuring that patients can be seen in an efficient manner, both locally and regionally.
