As of October 13th, Temiskaming Hospital is currently running 9 more beds per day than we have capacity for which equates to a 115% occupancy rate.
As a result, we are currently operating in surge capacity mode.
Our hospital staff are doing an excellent job of caring for patients despite our current volumes.
Temiskaming Hospital is reminding patients to assess their healthcare needs before deciding where to seek care. If you require emergency care, please do not delay your visit to the Emergency Department.
If you determine that your medical situation does not require a visit to the ER, please consider the following options:
• Call your family doctor to schedule an appointment. In some instances, you may be referred to a Nurse Practitioner who can provide the care you need;
• Speak to a registered nurse by calling Telehealth Ontario (24-hours) at 1-866-797-0000.
If you do require a trip to our Emergency Department, please expect longer than normal wait times, and please plan accordingly.
