Accreditation 2016 – Accreditation Canada 
A four-day on-site survey was conducted June 6-9, 2016 as part of an ongoing process focusing on quality improvement. Accreditation Canada surveyors evaluated the organization’s performance against Accreditation Canada’s evidence based standards of excellence. Temiskaming Hospital has been Accredited with Exemplary Standing, the highest designation given by Accreditation Canada for the second time in a row in our care delivery and administrative processes.

Temiskaming Hospital participated in a voluntary external accreditation assessment of our Echocardiography service in the fall of 2015. Temiskaming Hospital achieved a 97% compliance rate (38 out of 39 standards met)
Accreditation Laboratory, by Ontario Lab Accreditation (OLA), June 2016
Accreditation is a peer review assessment process carried out to ensure that each laboratory complies with the prescribed requirements of the Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) Program. Temiskaming Hospital Laboratory underwent a peer assessment on May 31-June 1 2016.
Only 7 minor non-conformities were identified of a potential 500+ requirements. The final report reflects a >98% compliance!
Accessibility Audit (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act - AODA) by the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, January 2016.
The Accessibility Directorate of Ontario periodically conducts file reviews on selected organizations to confirm that they are in compliance with the Act and its standards. In January of 2016 Temiskaming Hospital was selected for audit. The audit confirmed Temiskaming Hospital is 100% compliant with current legislation.
Audit – Oncology Services (NEOCC – Satellite) by Health Sciences North and Cancer Care Ontario, October 2015
On October 20th 2015 HSN conducted a site visit of our Day Medicine Department and the Pharmacy to review the oncology services that are delivered as part of the outreach of the Northeast Cancer Center. This is a standard review that occurs on a yearly basis. These reviews continue to push us to a very high standard of safety for both patients and staff and strengthen the quality of patient care we provide.
Accreditation (baseline assessment) by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Pharmacy, October 2015
An inspection of Temiskaming Hospital Pharmacy was conducted to evaluate compliance with over 400 hospital standards assessment criteria, which include emerging standards.
The inspection was carried out by OCP Hospital Practice Advisors and our pharmacy team/ Temiskaming Hospital successfully met over 90% of the standards.
Provincial HUMAN TOUCH Award to Tony Conti, RN Dialysis Satellite Service (HSN and TEM Hospital and Cancer Care Ontario), May 2016
Temiskaming Hospital and Health Sciences North (HSN) are proud to have Tony Conti, RN among this year’s winners of a Human Touch Award from Cancer Care Ontario. Tony Conti is a Registered Nurse with Temiskaming Hospital in HSN’s Nephrology Program satellite, as well as a member of the Temiskaming Hospital’s nursing team. The Human Touch Awards honour health care workers and volunteers who demonstrate extraordinary care and compassion for patients receiving cancer care or kidney care.
